Holiday Barbie began in 2008 as a model as a fashion model

2008 Holiday Barbie is a collector's item celebrating 20 years of stunning Holiday Barbie. Although Holiday Barbie is scheduled excited every year, the Barbie doll is a fascinating story, beginning with their "birth" in 1959.

Believe it or not, the original Barbie was a real person. Her name was Barbara (Barbie) Handler and his mother and father were Ruth and Elliot.

Mattel finally agreed to back their efforts and Barbie made her debut at the American Toy Fair in New York City in 1959. The girls went crazy over her, and a new sales record was set for the first year Mattel sold 351,000 Barbie at $ 3.00 per piece.

Marketed as "Teen-Age Fashion Model", thefirst Barbie dolls were manufactured in Japan, their clothes sewn by hand with the workers of Japanese homeland. The first Barbie had a blond ponytail and zebra-striped swimsuit, open shoes, sunglasses and earrings. Even more amusing was the fact that Barbie had a lot of accessories available. The girls love her, despite the buyers in the annual Toy Fair in New York who seemed impressed.

Ruth knew what girls want, and Barbie has been a breakout success!That's all it took for retailers to take by storm! Mattel was so swamped with orders that it took several years for supply to catch up with demand!

Since then, the popularity of Barbie-doll stuck, and today, has sold over one billion of their look-alikes, which is one of the most successful series in the history of the toy industry.
